This program builds on the methodologies, processes, and principles of project management in the project controls discipline. The course’s major goal is to show proficiency in this field.

This class covers the fundamentals of costing and focuses on managing portfolios, programs, and various projects. The program is structured and allows students to enhance their skills in the discipline. It focuses on advanced control accounts and budgets for major projects in multiple life-cycles. Tools, processes, and deliverables are developed in this program. It ensures an organized logical procedure for budgeting and controlling accounts. It covers a wide range of topics that costing must own and incorporate into budgets for portfolios, programs, and multiple projects. Get all the breakdown structures aligned and include them in the budgeting process for portfolios, programs, and numerous projects. Include the risk registers, control accounts, stakeholder management, and change management in the schedules. Create, maintain, and regulate budgets; manage outputs and reporting. The benefits and drawbacks of earned value reporting are discussed. Budget control for various projects. Finally, we will explore how to illustrate the impact of projects within portfolios, programs, and numerous projects.

Levels of Educational Qualification

Using the educational services provided by PCiBS, students can earn qualifications from international affiliated and accredited universities that are recognized by a national qualification framework (NQF) that is divided into levels. The European qualification levels are from level 0 to level 08.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

Admission requirements for Undergraduate:
  • Age: Minimum age 18 years
  • Recognition of Previous (RPL) Study: All documents need to be certified / notarized. All non-English documents must have a certified and evaluated English translation attached to the application.
  • English level: For non-English speaking students, TOEFL / IELTS or equivalent is required for students who did not study at English speaking school. The Admission Committee will also consider factors such as TOEFL/IELTS scores.
  • One passport-size photo.
  • Passport copy / national ID card certified / notarized.

It focuses on the standard requirements of setting up standard budgets and control accounts for large projects in various life-cycles. This course develops cost development and management; tools and techniques and outputs and deliverables. It ensures that a structured logical process is followed to develop control accounts. It discusses the Scope of Work; Project goals and defines a specific phase. We develop a work breakdown structure (WBS); resource breakdown structure (RBS); organization breakdown structure (OBS); schedule breakdown structure (SBS); cost breakdown structure (CBS) and the estimating breakdown structure (EBS) to name a few. Develop a responsibility matrix; utilize the risk register; allocate the control accounts to the schedule. Formulate a standard method to create budgets; maintain a cash flow; calculate labor costs; manage the outputs. Discuss various costing methods and processes, the advantages and disadvantages. Get a very good understanding of contingency, drawing down contingency and management thereof. This course investigates project communications management around managing portfolios, a program and multiple projects, including issues relating to the various phases throughout their life cycles. The importance of project integration management, the processes that guide the project plan setup and the strategic plan of a project and the management around portfolios, a program and multiple projects. Change control and its importance will be discussed, plus the project monitoring and control activities. Earned value management (EVM) approach is addressed for projects. In this course we also expand on the learnings from PCiBS-MGT-205 and apply the principles of that course in the course assignments. This course includes some assignments that form part of a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) that must be presented during this programme.
PCiBS-MGT-340 Project Quality, Risk and Procurement Management III
This course builds on various methods of analysis of project risk, procurement management and the project review and completion around managing portfolios, a program and multiple projects. This course discusses the following project risk elements, namely: environment, planning, identification, analysis, evaluation, treatment, monitoring and review of associated risks. Furthermore, it discusses the following project procurement elements, namely: planning, strategies, legal issues, solicitation, monitoring and control, including project review and completion. This course builds on various methods and analysis of project quality management around managing portfolios, a program and multiple projects. It will address the project quality context, quality planning, quality assurance and quality improvement, plus the quality development during the project lifecycle and total quality management (TQM). In this course we also expand on the learnings from PCiBS-MGT-240 and apply the principles of that course in the course assignments. This course includes some assignments that form part of a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) that must be presented during this programme.
PCiBS-PCM-353 Estimating III
This course deals with the core principles of estimating and focuses the students into more depth around the estimating discipline, especially around managing portfolios, a program and multiple projects. The course follows a structured manner and allows students to develop their competencies for the specific discipline in question. The main aim of the course in to demonstrate proficiency in this discipline to ensure that the student can be a valuable asset to any portfolio, program and multiple projects that they are involved with. It focuses on the advanced requirements of analyzing and setting up advanced control accounts and budgets for large projects in various life-cycles. This course develops estimate development and management; tools and techniques and outputs and deliverables. It ensures that a structured logical process is followed to develop budgets and control accounts. It discusses a wide variety of issues that the estimating discipline must take ownership of and incorporate into the budgets for portfolios, a program and multiple projects. Get proper alignment on all the various breakdown structures and incorporate them into the budgeting process of portfolios, a program and multiple projects.  Develop an advanced responsibility matrix; incorporate the risk register and all control accounts into the schedule. Formulate a standard method to create an estimate; maintain and control an estimate; manage the outputs for portfolios, a program and multiple projects. Calculate the contingencies and escalations of portfolios, a program and multiple projects and manage them accordingly. Perform a QRA budget development and align to the schedule and incorporate all relevant issues. Monitoring and control of the portfolios, a program and multiple projects estimates. Stakeholder management and change management for portfolios, a program and multiple projects. Finally, we will discuss the various ways to demonstrate the impacts projects have within each other in the management of portfolios, a program and multiple projects. Statistical applications of quantitative techniques: solving and application. Supporting mathematical concepts with statistical concepts using simulation within a data structure framework. Functions, derivatives, interpretation of the derivative, rules of differentiation, applications of differentiation, integration, interpretation of the definite integral, applications of integration. Matrices, solutions of systems of equations. All topics are studied in the context of applications. Advanced algebra, lines and planes, matrix algebra, solution of systems of equations, determinants. Complex numbers and polynomial equations. Use of numerical and integration techniques plus the modelling of differential equations.
