Levels of Educational Qualification

Using the educational services provided by PCiBS, students can earn qualifications from international affiliated and accredited universities that are recognized by a national qualification framework (NQF) that is divided into levels. The European qualification levels are from level 0 to level 08.

All courses require students to earn a passing grade by achieving a predetermined percentage on their exams in order to demonstrate their ability to perform as competitive individuals in the workplace. Individuals who are performance-based are evaluated on their ability to participate in a lecture and practical simulations (live) of various projects that are incorporated into each of the Program’s curriculums.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

Admission requirements for Post- graduate Diploma or Master’s Degree:
  • Any Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution
  • A professional qualification that is equivalent to a diploma / degree and a minimum of two years of working experience

OR

  • Previous work experience in the field of Project Management (minimum 5 years) demonstrated through a CV
  • Acceptance Advantage: Two letters of recommendation by your peers to start your postgraduate studies explaining your experience and why you would undertake to start these studies.

PLUS

  • Recognition of Previous (RPL) Study: All subjects / transcripts documents need to be certified / notarized. All non-English documents must have a certified and evaluated English translation attached to the application.
  • English level: For non-English speaking students, TOEFL / IELTS or equivalent is required for students who did not study at English speaking school. The Admission Committee will also consider factors such as TOEFL/IELTS scores.
  • One passport-size photo.

This course deals with the basic principles of project management and introduces the students to the project management discipline. It focuses on the basic requirements of setting up projects. It focuses on managing portfolios, a program and multiple projects for project management companies. The course follows a structured manner and allows students to develop their competencies for the specific discipline in question. The main aim of the course in to demonstrate proficiency in this discipline to ensure that the student can be a valuable asset to any project that they are involved with.
The course Introduces Project management concepts; needs identification; the project life cycles; the project manager and the project team; types of project organisations; project communication and document control. Estimating, Costing and Planning and control: planning, scheduling and schedule control of projects; resource considerations and allocations; cost planning and performance evaluation. It focuses on Risks, procurement, human resources, quality, communication, stakeholders and integration management.
PCiBS-MGT-534 Project Leadership  
This course analyzes diverse sectors of project management leadership, the team’s performance, the team activity, and range of organizational behaviors; groups and teams effectiveness and various topics related to project teams. Project teams comprise of various job sectors, job descriptions and divisions in organizations. This course explores the roles of project team members from project initiation to completion (cradle to grave). An overview of leadership on teams (groups);  organizational team leadership is provided in organizational structures whilst managing culture differences. The course also addresses team conflict; motivation; performance; managing individual and team behavior, plus the management of company strategies. We also discuss the manager as a person; leadership making decisions and organizational structures and their performance and effectiveness.

This course discusses advanced techniques of property investment. There are various vehicles that can be used for property investment and this course aims to develop an in depth understanding of the principles and categories used in property investment. The course looks at residential, old age homes, retirement centers, storage areas, parking garages to name a few.  The course focuses on fixed property types and the characteristics; the functions and pricing of a specific property market. The course elaborates on various types of properties such as: commercial buildings, corporations and residential properties. The course delves into the various financing models for properties and investigates property investment analysis. We discuss cash flow analysis; interest rates; gearing and risk analysis for specific property investments. Students cover purchasing contracts in more depth and investigate property investment techniques; selling and purchasing property. We look at investment vehicles in more depth and discuss the various options available to property investors. We have a detailed look at financial management; budgeting; real estate tax and capital gains tax. Ethics and governance issues to establish trusting relationships with agents and investment houses.

It focuses on the advanced requirements of analyzing and setting up advanced schedules for large projects in various life cycles. This course develops schedule development and management; tools and techniques and outputs and deliverables. It ensures that a structured logical process is followed to develop a schedule. It discusses a wide variety of issues that the planning discipline must take ownership of and incorporate into the schedules for portfolios, a program and multiple projects. Proper alignment of all the various breakdown structures and their incorporation into the budgeting process of portfolios, a program and multiple projects.  Develop an advanced responsibility matrix; incorporate the risk register and all control accounts into the schedule. Formulate a standard methods to create schedules; maintain schedules; manage reports and outputs for portfolios, programs and multiple projects. Accept and manage the contingencies of portfolios, a program and multiple projects. Perform a QRA schedule development and incorporate all relevant issues. Discuss the pro’s and con’s of earned value reporting and how to manage it at the correct levels. Monitoring and control of the portfolios, a program and multiple projects schedules. Stakeholder management and change management for portfolios, a program and multiple projects. Finally, we will discuss the various ways to demonstrate the impacts projects have within each other in the management of portfolios, a program and multiple projects.

It focuses on the advanced requirements of analyzing and setting up advanced control accounts and budgets for large projects in various life-cycles. This course develops cost development and management; tools and techniques and outputs and deliverables. It ensures that a structured logical process is followed to develop budgets and control accounts. It discusses a wide variety of issues that the costing discipline must take ownership of and incorporate into the budgets for portfolios, a program and multiple projects. PCiBS-MGT-542 Property Ownership and Management
This course discusses topics such as the structures, maintenance and repair or restoration of buildings. Maintenance of buildings must be performed, or the correct contractors / individuals must be utilized. The course discusses commercial buildings for businesses, organizations or corporations and residential properties. The course covers topics in financing commercial, and residential and other properties, real estate and leasing contracts. Students develop business management techniques for property and other management functions. Property sale and marketing techniques are also addressed. Topics cover housing laws, building maintenance, supervision and tenant leasing. We look at financial management, budgeting and maintaining financial data. There are topics around real estate tax, options provided to tenants, cancellation of leases, subletting and lease negotiations. The topics conclude with tenants, lease agreements, security deposits, subletting and rent control. Ethics and governance issues to establish trusting relationships with tenants.
PCiBS-MGT-544 Project Scope, Schedule, Cost & Resource Management
This course discusses project scope and the management of scope, schedule, cost and resource management in controlling portfolios, a program and multiple projects. It will incorporate a combined scope to address work breakdown structures, the goals and objectives, constraints, the operational concept, budget and time, and who has the management authority around managing portfolios, a program and multiple projects. It also elaborates on project time and cost management including issues relating to the project life cycle and all its phases. It incorporates time definition and estimating plus discuss the various networks that are available. The project strategy and the projects associated cost management is addressed from a planning, estimating and control point of view. An in-depth discussion about earned value management (EVM) with samples of project control with EVM.
PCiBS-MGT-552 Knowledge Development
This course discusses two organisational development approaches: self-designing organisations and learning organisations. We look at two distinct interventions: organisational learning and knowledge management. The course shows the organisational learning processes, namely discovery; invention; production and generalisation. We look at organizational structures and processes that enable employees to learn and share from their experiences and knowledge by defining two types of learning, lower and higher learning. We look at expert knowledge and talent identification to assist in the learning processes. We discuss in depth the powerful tools to use to effect knowledge development in an organization and the changes that must be implemented to entrench that methodology. Furthermore, students discuss these processes and methods to show how competencies must be able to come to the fore to enable companies to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage over time.

This course discusses behavioral and organizational change. The models of change together with their complexities are the drivers of change. We consider how to manage change successfully and provide key principles for managing change. We focus on the drive for constant organizational change to be successful. Furthermore, we look at resolving some dilemmas around change; the sustainability of change withing companies and the drive to survive management of change. The course looks at designing organizations with the basis of change to focus on the fundamentals of leading and managing change, plus looking at change in the organization and at you as individual. The course looks at interventions that are required to change behaviors and develop a change management program. The course also addresses issues in managing organizational change; key factors with change; the change processes for personnel; hard and soft interventions, the differences and their impact. This course focuses on the nature of managing organisational change; interventions and utilizing techniques.

This course discusses principles of project management and introduces the students to the project management discipline. It focuses on the requirements of setting up projects. This course discusses organizational change and the behaviors that follow changes in an enterprise in a global scale. We investigate models and processes of change with their complexities and core drivers of change are discussed. Successful change management is considered with the key guiding principles that are required for change. With change in organizations, there are issues and dilemmas that need to be resolved and we investigate some requirements around the around the changes that must be monitored and managed. We look at organizational design and the benefits of the types of structures with their advantages and disadvantages of this. We furthermore look at a matrix organization and discuss the benefits that a project management organization can have to streamline your organization to benefits from this type of structure. We also look at companies with a project structure from an internal and external perspective. The course looks at key diagnostics and interventions required to change behaviors of organizations that require a transformation. The course addresses issues in managing organizational change; key factors with change; the change processes for personnel; hard and soft interventions, the differences and their impact.

This course discusses advanced Project Controls & Project Management concepts; life-cycles of projects; portfolios, program and projects differences; scope management and change control; integration of various breakdown structures and data sets. We focus on change management and the role of the project controls manager; the portfolio / program / project manager, project controls team and other project team members; the role of project controls. Controlling performance measurement in respect to change management on projects with project controls. The use of planning, costing, estimating, administration and document control to manage change control at portfolio, program and projects level. The various processes and methods of monitoring and controlling changes at portfolio, program and project level. Contracting, managing claims and disputes through project-based change management. Change control and its importance will be discussed, plus managing change and controlling change at project level through the project monitoring and control activities. The importance of documentation in change management of projects and contracts.
PCiBS-MGT-540 Property Development
In this course we discuss and research advanced principles of property development. The aims of this course are to develop an in depth understanding of the principles used to develop a high residential area, old age homes, retirement centers, storage areas, parking garages to name a few. It covers the relevant statutes and ordinances required for these types of developments. The course covers investigating financing methods and the risk involved in various financing methods. We utilize various models to assist in the decision-making process of property development. Students are required to develop a property development program with all the applications and approvals and submit a detailed construction plan as part of a property development business plan. Investigations into specific market research to enhance the promotion and selling of the selected property development must be performed. We look at the legal aspects of contracts and tax implications of property development. Importantly, we focus on sustainable and environmental development around property development.
PCiBS-MGT-550 Project Contractual & Legal Matters
This course discusses an in-depth principle of the legal issues within the context of a project and its contracts, using the standard principles of law of contract. It discusses the legal nature of individuals and organizations. Utilizing the law to ensure that projects have the correct contracting principles imbedded in the organization. Law of sales, credit agreements, lease. This course also focusses on the management of project-related contracts and looks at the consumer laws. The legal issues involved with tendering and the enquiry period; formation of contracts; management of contracts; contractual disputes and the resolution; conflict and aggression; disputes and the final arbitration or mediation process. Identify the pit falls of project contracting and mitigating claims. In addition, the course discusses the law of torts (negligence, breach of contract) and property, such as: Intellectual property, copyright, patents and trademarks. Various methods of contracting and the risks attached to each method are also investigated.
PCiBS-MGT-556 Strategic Management  
This course enables you to gain a detailed knowledge of strategic management. The course covers the concept of strategy and strategic management. It also discusses internal and external strategy and the application of strategy solutions to all aspects of business. Strategic management forms part of the business, corporate and international environment, where the strategy is about competing now and in the future of any organization. We focus on understanding the dynamics of competition; changing industry factors; ethics and governance and the strategic positioning of companies. This course discusses the role of procurement and contracting in supply chain management. The purchasing and contracting processes, using standard contracting methodologies, outsourcing of procurement and supply chain risk management, sole sourcing and supply chain strategy.
