Each credit constitutes an estimated minimum of 10 hours of student engagement, learning, practice, independent research, and assessment time concerning the outcomes and contexts of the subjects offered. The expected student workload is typically split per subject as follows:

  • 52 hours – student engagement,
  • 35 hours – learning & practice,
  • 43 hours – independent research,
  • 35 hours – and assessment

During the program’s study period, each student must enroll in an Assignment subject. This subject aims to accumulate all the skills and learnings gained during the tenure of your selected program. This Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) combines all the processes, methodologies, and activities students engaged within each subject. The PoE is the final assessment used to establish the level of competency students have gained during their studies.

Each course includes some assignments that form part of a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) (additional assignment subject) that must be presented during each program. The course follows a structured manner and allows students to develop their competencies for the specific discipline in question. The main aim of the course in to demonstrate proficiency in this discipline to ensure that the student can be a valuable asset to any project that they are involved with.

The expected student workload over the program duration for a PoE is as follows:

  • 308 hours – PoE (*)

At PCiBS, all practical or portfolio of evidence (PoE) courses must be passed by all students to confirm their ability to perform as a competitive individual in the industry. The effectiveness of a performance-based individual is based on our ability to have lectured and practical (live) simulations of various projects that form part of each of the course that students attend.

Courses and assignments have specific competencies assigned to them to measure skills in a Linkert scale that runs from Novice, Basic, Practitioner, Master, Expert, Innovator. The range runs from 1 through to 6. Here are a few sample competencies that PCiBS will apply with all its courses.
